Loy Krathong Flower Festival takes place on the full moon day according to the Thai lunar calendar or falls in November according to the solar calendar. This is an annual festival held throughout Thailand and several provinces of Laos, Myanmar.
With the glowing sky lighted up from thousands of lanterns, the sparkling river with thousands of flower boats jutting along the water, the flower festival is considered the second largest festival of the year in Thailand, after the traditional Songkran New Year. This is also one of the most beautiful, most colorful and oldest festivals in Thailand.
There are no direct flights operating directly from Vietnam to Chiang Mai. So to get to Chiang Mai you have to go from Bangkok capital. From Bangkok, you have 3 vehicles to go to Chiang Mai, namely: cars, trains, and airplanes.
Bus: fare is above 500 baht for every one-way ticket, buses usually depart from 21h – 23h. You will spend one night on the bus and reach Chiang Mai in the next morning

The festival takes place from December 15th according to the Thai lunar calendar, lasting about 3 days. The Thai calendar is not the same as other lunar calendars, so the festival usually takes place around mid-November. This year, the festival runs from November 24 to November 26.
